Objects at similar stages of refinement are stratified into layers. The data model creates a hierarchy of objects at each layer of the model that are available for use for multiple interpretive analytic inquiries. The data model structure utilizes objects created at one layer for the creation of objects at another layer, and those objects are subsequently available at the next layer, and so on. Throughout this process, the intermediate work product of each stage is available when needed for other analytic development purposes.
These layers include:
- Source data (SD)
- Semantic Mapping (SM)
- Metadata and Integration (MI)
- Local Transform (LT)
- Natural Object (NO)
- Synthetic Object (SO)
- Data Mart (DM)
